Discovery Surf School was the first surf school in the UK to offer SUP lessons (Martin and Annika enjoyed trying the sport while on Honeymoon in Kauai in 2006!) Stand up Paddle Surfing (SUP) is a traditional Hawaiian style of surfing where you are permenantly standing on a large longboard and use a long paddle to move across the water and catch waves. The great thing is you only need a tiny wave to have lots of fun. |

It's super fun and a great form of exercise; improves stamina and increases muscle strength in upper body, torso and legs. It especially works your legs as you are constantly trying to balance as you stand. |

At first you learn all the basics in flat water conditions before trying to catch some small waves. |

| No experience is required for a SUP lesson, though as with our other lessons you need to be able to swim 25m. Lessons take place on a quiet part of the beach in tiny waves. 2 hour Group lessons are £38 and you can also have a private 'refresher' session for £38 also - this includes 30 minutes instruction and 2 hours hire so you can go and practice on your own. |
